Stratford District Parenting Project
Most people become parents with excitement and anticipation, but the pressures
of today's world can make parenthood difficult and isolating. Parenting
programmes provides opportunities to meet other parents, share experiences,
as well as advice and information, and the chance to learn skills, often
before problems arise.
Can anyone attend them? Yes. Anyone who is a parent, stepparent, parenting
partner or in a parenting role to a child or children. The programmes are
for groups of parents. There are usually between 10 and 11 weekly sessions.
A session lasts between 2 and 3 hours.
Parenting Programmes in the Stratford District.
What will I learn? The topics covered include skills which help parents
and their children get on better and improve the quality of family life.
Some are programmes are designed for specific groups of parents, parents
of teenagers, new parents and stepparents. Most courses are suitable for
all parents going through the normal ups and downs of bringing up a child.
Pre-school children: We offer programmes for a range of behavioural management
advice for difficulties with temper tantrums, sleep problems, mealtime
battles, hyperactivity and aggressive behaviour.
School age Children: School age children may present with disruptive behaviours,
anxieties about bullying, peer relationships, parental separation. We offer
strategies to help parents develop more positive relationships with their
child and manage the problem behaviour more effectively.
