Dásh was pleased to sponsor Prison Me? No Way at Shipston High School on
Monday 5th October. High School students in Year 7 and 8 were involved in the day‘s activities, being divided into 7 Groups. The day commenced with the staging of a road traffic accident. The students we were all able to follow the procedures adopted and implemented by Firemen, Police, Ambulance Crews, Paramedics and Officers of the Prison Service. The story then unfolded with the arrest of the “unqualified driver” and subsequent legal processes, culminating in the sentencing in a Magistrates Court.
Seven classrooms plus the school hall were used to hold the various presentations, these being:
- Police – the first to arrive at a road accident
- Fire – what scenes do firemen have to face at a road traffic accident
- Ambulance - teaching some basic First Aid treatment
- Street Scene – involving drunken behavior, complaints by annoyed residents and finally arrest by police.
- Police Astra – presentation by 2 traffic policemen, illustrated by films of horrifying accidents, in the main caused by young drivers.
- Prison Service – Presentation of Prison Warders of prison life culminating in students being shown a full size prison cell.
- Magistrates - A court scene involving four magistrates and students in the mock trial of the accused.
The day finished with musical entertainment involving a young singer, students and staff.
