Loveboat Residential

A glorious weekend in March saw six young people from Shipston-on-Stour enjoy a weekend residential on the Dream Catcher narrowboat. The weekend had been arranged as a detached youth work project by a group of young people and the detached youth worker who is funded by DASH (Drug Action Shipston). The weekend was themed around RSE (relationship and sex education) and supported by Respect Yourself who had funded WAYC to deliver RSE training to voluntary groups throughout Warwickshire - hence the loveboat name!! The group had been selected through their commitment to the project and not because they were seen to be at more risk than other young people in the area. The group enjoyed steering the boat, operating locks and cooking for one another, as well as lots of other experiences. The route started in Rugby and meandered through the countryside to Buckby and back, which meant navigating the Braunston Tunnel - which is over 1800 metres long! By Sunday the crew were all very tired and in need of a good night's rest!!!! If you would be interested in some RSE work in your club, or in a Dream Catcher residential, please contact Andy Morris on 01926 450156 or email andy.morris@wayc.org.uk
